Senior Metallurgist

Roscoe Postle Associates (RPA) provides engineering and geological consulting services to a wide variety of mining and related clients around the world.  

We are seeking a Senior Metallurgist to be based in our office in Toronto (preferably), Denver or London.  

The successful candidate will ensure that all metallurgical and process reviews and analyses are carried out in a thorough and professional manner that provides the client with practical, accurate, and effective advice on a timely basis.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assessment, due diligence, and technical auditing of mines and projects
  • Process engineering, including material balances, testwork, equipment sizing, recovery analysis
  • Commissioning and on-site technical advisory
  • Estimation of project capital and operating costs
  • Preliminary Economic Assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies
  • Financial modeling and analysis
  • Report writing and client presentations in English
  • Management and leadership of other engineers
  • Business development
  • Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI43-101, JORC, SMREC, Competent Persons Reports, and Mineral Expert Reports etc.

Qualifications & Background

  • Possess a post-secondary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or the equivalent.
  • Registered or qualified for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada or the equivalent in the USA, UK, Australia, or South Africa.    
  • Must have ten to fifteen years of experience in mining operations and, ideally, some engineering design, consulting, or corporate level experience.  Preference will be given to those candidates who have supervisory experience. 
  • Have strong analytical skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multi task and prioritize work, proactive, self-driven, service minded, and results-oriented with the ability to function well within a team. 
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to write reports and interact with clients is a must.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all employees in all locations as well as clients and others outside of the company to achieve deadlines.
