DIAMOND EXPLORATION EXPERIENCE
- Exploration management of overburden sampling program for kimberlite indicator minerals in follow-up of airborne geophysics targets in the Eastmain/Otish Mountains area of Québec on behalf of junior companies in the 2002 field season from our Eastmain Camp base.
- Supervision of the initial exploration program on the Diavik Project near Lac de Gras in the Northwest Territories that led to the discovery of over fifty kimberlite bodies, four of which are scheduled for commercial production in 2003.
- Managment of diamond exploration for three junior companies in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territory. Work consisted of airborne surveys interpretation and target selection, heavy indicator mineral sampling including setting up the screen plant, data interpretation and plotting, diamond drilling, and logistics.
- Involvement in the discovery, evaluation and development of SouthernEra Resources' Klipspringer kimberlite fissure, and Marsfontein M-1 kimberlite pipe mines in the Northern Province of South Africa, as well as being responsible for its world wide exploration programs.
- Supervision of the generation of a feasibility study for SouthernEra Resources' Camafuca Project, Angola, evaluating the world's largest known diamondiferous kimberlite pipe. This work involved a field program for bulk sample testing, grade evaluation using drill core, and diamond size distribution analysis. It included engaging various consulting engineering groups, liaison with equipment producers, diamond valuation and geostatistical consultants, and logistics coordination.
- Supervision of two alluvial diamond production operations in Angola which produced nearly 150,000 carats of diamonds in 1998.
- Adviser to several junior diamond exploration companies in Canada.
- Acted as technical consultant to Power Corporation, an American company operating the Luo Concession in northeastern Angola. Power is currently evaluating the Camatchia and Camagico kimberlite pipes, and producing alluvial diamonds from the same area.
- Technical consultant to Terra Minas, an Angolan mining company holding rights to evaluate and exploit the Camatue Cluster of kimberlite pipes in the Lucapa area of northeastern Angola.
