Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. has considerable experience in estimating, auditing and reviewing Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves using both classical and geostatistical methods. Reserve reports are written in compliance with the applicable securities regulations.
Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. classifies Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves according to the definitions published by the Canadian Institute of Mining Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM Bulletin, October 2000), or other systems if required, such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Australian JORC Code.
Mineral Resources are classified by Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. into Measured, Indicated and Inferred categories based upon the density of data and confidence level on the resource estimate. Mineral Reserves are classified into Proven and Probable categories based upon the corresponding resource category and economic mining parameters.
Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. has geologists and mining engineers with extensive experience in exploration, Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimation, mine planning and grade control, and aspects of both underground and open pit mines. We use primarily Gemcom Software International Inc. geological and mining software, but have experience with other systems such as Surpac, and Vulcan software. Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. has worked on underground and open pit projects with digital data imported from most of the major mining software packages.
Some of the Mineral Reserve and Mineral Resource services and related services that Roscoe Postle Associates Inc. provides are as follows: - Estimate of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves using basic geological and assay data.
- Audit of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves done by others. This includes a review of the database methodology, check estimates and classification.
- Mineral Resource estimates within pit shells (or other constraints) for scoping and pre-feasibility studies.
- Mineral Reserve estimates for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, including pit design and optimization, or underground conceptual mine planning.
- Classification of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves.
- Mineral Resource and database reviews which may indicate potential or actual problem areas and save unnecessary delays at the reserve estimation stage.
- Mineral Resource and database audits which provide independent confirmation on reliability and suitability for reserve estimation work.
- Design and review of sampling and assaying protocols. This aspect has increased importance as a result of the TSE / OSC Mining Standards Task Force report.
- Investigation of grade control problems at operating mines.
- Assist, train or guide a client's personnel in Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserve estimation procedures.
